Experience at rotation: For my senior nutrition rotation, I spent two weeks at the Hylond Golden Living Center in Fresno working with both the long-term residents and also with the short-term rehab residents. During my rotation I assessed the nutritional status of residents, attended care conferences, performed a sanitation review of the kitchen, and also performed managerial functions in the kitchen. During my time I was also able to experience and help with a Title 22 audit from the state that occurred.
How experience helped achieve career goals: One of the assignments my preceptor asked me to do was give an in-service to the kitchen staff. The in-service covered personal hygiene and how to prepare for the upcoming flu season. This assignment will help me in the future to design and implement presentations to specific audiences.
Assignment title: Write a 1 page report describing a presentation given, the reason for the presentation, how it was or will be implemented, and evaluate the presentation.
Assignment description: Attached below is a description of the in-service I presented to the kitchen staff, a handout I gave to the staff, along with the post-test that was given after the presentation.
