Experience at rotation: My rotation at Merced County Community Action Agency WIC was very busy. During my time there, I created a pamphlet on gestational diabetes, created a poster for National Nutrition Month, revised and presented a local resource pamphlet, created a worksite wellness board to present at the California WIC Association conference, facilitated group educations, and counseled high-risk mothers.
How experience helped achieve career goals: This experience helped me gain leadership skills along with improving my ability to work with a diverse population.
Assignment title: Develop and deliver a product that promotes consumer health, wellness and lifestyle management.
Assignment description: It was expressed by the dietitians at Merced County WIC that they currently did not have any information on gestational diabetes to give to participants. I created the handout attached below to help the dietitians educate newly diagnosed mothers.
