Assignment Title:  Case Study: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

What I learned:  In this assignment I learned how to research symptoms of diseases through the process of elimination.  I also learned about the pathophysiology of health conditions, how to calculate anthropometric data, investigating drug-nutrient interactions, interpret lab values, and making medical nutrition therapy.

Reflection to assignment:  Through this assignment I learned all the dimensions that play a role in medical nutrition therapy.  There are many aspects that have to be considered and it takes a lot of detective work and research in order to provide useful MNT recommendations.  It was fulfilling to be able to use different areas of nutrition I have learned and put it all together to recommend MNT to a patient.

 

Relevance to the profession:  Medical Nutrition Therapy is a key component of the nutrition field.  The skills taught are extremely important for clinical dietitians and all nutrition professionals.
